fluorescent bats in an electrified cave

One day in the office, when I looked up at the ceiling at a row of fluorescent lamps, it reminded me of a flight of bats. The outcome is this crazy haiku.

The muse is still missing so please make do with this bat, i mean bad attempt of a haiku for the time being.

fluorescent bats in an electrified cave

they flicker when fed
then when the humans flee home
they sleep on steel bars

Very well crafted...I had to pause for a long time thinking why this touch me in a special way, not the usual haiku...perhaps it is the way man make use of others, then "flee" away to their own comfortable homes, forgetting those who have help them....but thats life, and I think that Gratitude is a forgotten virtue....Ha, now I know why, it is because this has something to do with filial piety and that you have not forgotten your parents, yes, thats it, now everything comes together...it was the muse after all!!! Hey, Do I make sense?

hi plus,
you are right that this is not the usual haiku, because it is not about the natural environment but of the man-made world of a city. and i use "flee" because most people will be glad to get away from their workplace after knock-off time. glad those words got you thinking, it must not be that bad after all. i think my muse is still missing because i have not been able to write anything i like for the past week. :)

floots,
thank you!
i used photoshop to cover up the inadequacies of my photography. :)
